Some Quotes

I was reading through HeartCry Magazine number 68 today and came across some quotes related to missions and I thought I'd share a few.

"A missionary is one who never gets used to the sound of heathen footsteps on their way to a Christless eternity." Unknown

"I have but one candle of life to burn, and I would rather burn it out in a land filled with darkness than in a land flooded with light" John Keith Falconer

"The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed." Hudson Taylor

"Sympathy is no substitute for action". David Livingston
(As a side note, David Livingston was one of my heroes as a child. Come to think of it, I'd love to read a more in depth biography on his life.)

"Does it really matter how many die or how much money we spend in opening closed doors if we really believe that missions are warfare and that the King's glory is at stake?" Unknown

"Let us press on. All Africa must be won for Christ. Though a thousand missionaries die, send more." Andreas Riis, missionary to Africa

Never heard of Andreas Riis before, better add that to my ever growing list of books to read.

"In our lifetime, wouldn't it be sad if we spent more time washing dishes or swatting flies or mowing the yard or watching television than praying for world missions?" Dave Davidson
Ouch!

"We have eternity to tell of victories won for Christ, but we have only a few hours before sunset to win them." Unknown
Oh that I would live with this sense of urgency!

Hey Corey,
This is great! I love those quotes. After reading them I'm dying to get back out there and reach others with His love. Very cool. Thanks for posting.
I remember studying David Livingstone in my middle school days. A very famous quote I recall is "Dr. Livingstone, I presume." I think they buried his heart in Africa too. Here's a link I think might help with your search for more reading on his life.

God bless and keep writing. ;)
