Why Is This So Hard?

I had yet another humbling experience today. My selfishness was taken on by someone else. Corrections always hurt, at least when you are inward focused. Especially when they come in the conflict of two selfish creatures. Of course, I couldn't be graceful in correction either, after all, admitting one is wrong is giving the other person reason to gloat, right? Then again, does that really matter? Is not my number one goal in life to become more like my Master, King, Father, Maker, Older Brother, Provider and Friend and to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work (Colossians 1:10)? If I am corrected, even in a wrong manner, does it matter? If I was driving towards a cliff and someone yelled something along the lines of "Stop stupid!", would it really matter the name I was called when my life was saved? Obviously they are also in the wrong but that does not give me a right to respond in kind. In fact, this may be a situation Christ had in mind when He said
3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. Matthew 7:3-5 (ESV)
Anyway, yet another episode in my quest to die to self. The Christian life isn't easy, but how can I not purse my Lord, who saved me from His all consuming wrath and loved me with a love I can not even begin to comprehend. This is a sermon I recently listened to. It is from Paul Washer and I found it both convicting and quite encouraging. I love how open and transparent he is in his own walk with Christ. Oh what a passion he has for his Lord. May Christ continue to cultivate His Holiness and Righteousness in you! Corey
